Skannatati Loop Harriman State Park . Length: 4.8 km. Located in the Palisades Region, Harriman State Park is home to over 300 kilometers of trails, 31 lakes and reservoirs, multiple camping areas and plenty of wildlife. The park is also home to various bird conservation areas making it a great spot for bird watchers.

Make a left down Dunning Trail (Yellow Square blaze) to head past Pine Swamp and more of the Pine Swamp Mine ruins. Next day, take the Red Cross Trail through a broad swath of lowland forest—one of the park’s least-visited areas. Stay right at the Y-intersection, and left to cross Tiorati Brook. Go straight in .6 mile, leaving the Red Cross Trail, toward Lake Askoti. Cross Seven Lakes Drive, and bend around Lake Skannatati on the Long Path. Proceed north on N.J. Route 17 to the New York State Thruway (I-87) north and take the first exit, Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto N.Y. Route 17 north, and continue through the Village of Sloatsburg.

From a kiosk at the northwest corner of the parking area, follow the inverted-red-triangle-on-white-blazed Arden-Surebridge (A-SB) Trail, which bears right, climbs stone steps, and begins to climb Pine Swamp Mountain Highlights of this loop include views of Lake Skannatati and Lake Askoti, the Hasenclever Mine, and a small cemetery with graves from the 1800s. 2017-10-28 · Although there are still a few places in the park I have never seen, I still tend to gravitate to the Lake Skannatati parking lot/trailhead. Which is where we started our hike on this particular day. I have done this general hike before but never in this particular loop so even though the day was similar it was still different and it was also my wife’s first time hiking through the Lemon 2019-10-26 · This short loop hike follows both marked trails and an unblazed woods road around Lake Askoti, with a short bushwack to a viewpoint from Pine Swamp Mountain. The parking area at Lake Skannatati does fill up quickly on nice days, but the route of this hike does not see much foot traffic.

2011-08-10 · It was supposed to be the Red Cross, Beech Trail and Long Path Loop from Lake Skannatati..total distance 8.4 miles - considered moderate on the NY-NJ Trail Conference website, with views and a waterfall along the way.

This section starts at the fishing access parking lot off of Seven Lakes Drive at Lake Skannatati, about 0.75 mile north of Kanawauke Circle. From the Palisades Interstate Parkway, take Exit 15, go west on Gate Hill Road and Rockland County Route 106 to Kanawauke Circle, and then go north for 0.75 mile on Seven Lakes Drive. Proceed north on N.J. Route 17 to the New York State Thruway (I-87) north and take the first exit, Exit 15A (Sloatsburg).

An easy loop hike through lesser traveled areas of the park along old woods roads and footpaths, to a great view and an abandoned mine complex.
